Preparation; take nothing for granted e.g. exact surgery time, ride, packing items, identification, legal matters, etc... I brought a book to read but truth is you are going to be on so many drugs you will not be able to concentrate on what you are reading. Make sure you have the surgery time written down in granite and that you give your ride a time 30 minutes to an hour before your planned arrival time to allow for unforeseen delays.
Bring toiletry items like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, lotion, deodorant, hair spray, small mirror, etc... If you have a favorite pair of pajamas, bring them too, if not they will give you a pair of theirs. Remember to bring your walking cane as well as you will need that to get around before your surgery.
